If someone tried to understand you using only your race, what important things would that person miss? Describe at least three other parts of your cultural identity that help make you who you are?

prompt- If someone tried to understand me only using my race they would not know everything that makes you unique. For example they could miss my family, how they raised me and all my traditional traditions we always follow. My beliefs, what i believe is right from wrong or even what is important to me. My experiences, things I have went through repeatedly that has shaped me into my entire personality and how I view life.  summary- you cannot judge a book by its cover and you can't know someone the best without knowing their cultural background.  Reflection- I learned that even if your a different culture and someone thinks they know you, but know nothing about your culture is never gonna fully understand you. your culture is a big part of you.

Describe a meaningful family tradition unique to your culture and explain how it mirrors or contrast with the cultural identity themes of expectations.

prompt- Meaningful family traditions unique to my culture is party's, dances, the food and drinks, and the weddings. These are very meaningful in my culture because party's bring family together even if they don't want to have anything to do with you. The dances show our true skills and culture. The music beats that will blast so loud the entire block will hear too. The food and drinks make people so happy and thankful. The weddings aren't just normal weddings, their weddings that take days to complete, with different stages of things.  Summary- You don't have to ever change yourself just to fit in.  Reflection- All of these things that i have learned will help me to understand you fit in wherever you are because you are your own person. No one can ever take your culture away from you.

Think about the different people, cultures, experiences, community, interests, and traditions that have shaped who you are.

 1) prompt- My family has had the greatest influence on me because they taught me hard work, and even though I don't have everyone in my family, the one's I do have has shown me that stumbles or hard work doesn't bring you down. You can only bring yourself down. My mom has taught me that you keeping going even when things are going horrible. There's a lot of times I felt as maybe I wasn't right for my family. Or just as I needed to change myself to make them happy. A big part of my culture that brings a lot of my family together is Tassa a traditional Carribean dance.  2) summary- Today in class we read a article called A Korean Dream.  3) reflection- I learned that being a certain culture doesn't mean you can't be allowed into another culture. Nor does your skin color define you as a person. Its okay to embrace other cultures while already having one. No one should discriminate you for wanting to know more about any culture.
